Two Client Bases: The Veteran and the Employer

The military develops skills that are highly desirable to civilian employers. However, the military-civilian divide creates barriers for both employers and job-seeking veterans to connect. Veterans may have unrealistic expectations of the civilian workforce, while employers may have misconceptions about veterans in the workplace. These challenges may come as a surprise to people, including veterans, as post-service opportunities for school and career are significant factors for veterans during military recruitment.  

The solution, to assist veterans in securing employment, is two-fold: help veterans understand the realities of job-hunting in the civilian world, and help employers recruit, hire, and support veterans in the workplace.  

When providing veteran employment services, you have two client bases: veterans and employers. The following material offers guidance on outreach, communications, and opportunities to serve both.
