Mental healthcare matters - especially to aging veterans. In 2024, 61% of new enrollees at Swords to Plowshares were veterans 55 years or older. As we respond to the needs of aging veterans, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with the California Veterans Health Initiative Mental Health Support Program (CVHI-MHSP) via California Department of Veterans Affairs.
The support from CVHI-MHSP will fund our work to expand veteran wellness programs including hiring more mental health and support staff to better serve the Greater Bay Area. We co-hosted the San Francisco Bay Area Aging Veterans Mental Health Summit to discuss the current issues facing the population as well as emerging work and data from the field.
