HELP THE VETERANS
COMMUNITY CENTER STAY OPEN

Your gift today ensures that veterans in San Francisco have a place to find belonging and healing. Veterans like George Bracey. Because no veteran should heal from the wounds of war alone.

Here’s how your donation makes a difference:

  • $50 provides five hygiene kits.
  • $100 provides 15 hot meals.
  • $250 provides 6 months of art therapy supplies.

Thank you for doing your part to help veterans age in grace!

Meet George

Army Veteran (1971-1972)

George Bracey has been a part of the Swords to Plowshares community since the 1980's. George faced significant challenges, including racism and harassment while in the military, and she struggled with embracing her veteran identity after coming out as LGBTQ and being discharged. Despite this, George has found a place of acceptance and support at the Veterans Community Center. She describes it as the best it has ever been, where she feels seen and heard. The Center has become a safe haven for George, offering her a place to connect with peers, participate in therapy, and embrace her veteran identity. Her humor and style brighten up the space, and she is motivated to support other trans and Black veterans in finding a place where they belong.

“I tell every vet I know to come to the Veterans Community Center – you’ll be safe here.”
