Our annual events always serve a community need, whether it’s raising critical funds to support our programs, educating the community, or ensuring homeless veterans have a warm meal and essential items during the holiday season.
These events allow us to highlight the impact of our work, honor the veterans we serve, and thank our community partners. They provide opportunities for our community partners to showcase their support for local veterans.
In addition to our annual events, we also host ongoing community education forums, work with employers to coordinate custom veteran hiring events for veterans, and host professional development workshops for women veterans.
For nearly 20 years, the annual Veterans Day Dinner raises critical funds to support our programs and services – last year we raised over $460,000 for our services! The event is hosted in early November at the Palace Hotel and attended by 600 supporters who enjoy an upscale evening that all benefits local veterans. Tickets begin at $300 and sponsorship opportunities begin at $1,000.
We host the annual Summer Solstice Symphony Concert at the historic Herbst Theatre. The concert will be a joyous evening of music by Symphonia Caritas, a professional orchestra that plays to improve the lives of those in need.
Conducted by Symphonia Caritas Musical Director Paul Schrage, the concert will feature Mozart’s Overture to Marriage of Figaro, Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor. Symphonia Caritas welcomes to the stage accomplished solo pianist Jeffrey LaDeur, who has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Smithsonian.
All proceeds will be directed to the critical housing, legal and supportive services we provide to over 2,500 low-income and homeless veterans.
Each year, supporters and volunteers help us assemble 200 backpacks filled with some essential items for local homeless veterans. We gather around the holiday season to distribute backpacks, along with a delicious warm holiday meal and some holiday cheer.
