Weekend Evening Program Monitor - Safe Haven
Description

The part-time Weekend Evening Program Monitor provides services to dually diagnosed veteran residents. The Weekend Program Monitor’s responsibilities include monitoring the activities of residents after business hours, responding to emergencies, and completing appropriate documentation, including incident reports and log book entries, monitoring meals and working with clinical staff to facilitate treatment and identify resident issues.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all rules and procedures (Personnel Policy Manual and residential facility guidelines)
  • Monitor common area activities of building residents and guests
  • Maintain building security and screen all visitors
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation, i.e. incident reports, complaints, and daily log book entries
  • Respond to building emergencies in compliance with the Property Management manuals
  • Maintain a relaxed, courteous and professional demeanor, even under pressure, to treat tenants with respect and patience
  • Assist tenants in completing work orders, incident reports and complaints
  • Assist the Program Manager with administrative tasks as directed
  • Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry and lobby
  • Plan, prepare and serve daily onsite breakfast (including clean up)
  • Employee must be able to perform all essential job requirements and responsibilities within what would be considered reasonable accommodation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education
  • Associate’s degree, high school diploma or GED considered with experience
Experience
  • Two (2) years experience working with “hard to serve”, substance abuse and mental health clients, with at least one (1) year in a human service agency
  • Translatable military experience and skills may be alternatively substituted
Qualifications
  • Maintain good attendance record, including timely notification if unable to work shift
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to remain calm and alert during emergencies
  • Understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people
  • Ability to both work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to pass Food Handler’s Course upon hire
  • Commitment to helping formerly homeless people to regain and maintain their independence
  • Understanding of and experience working with issues of homelessness and recovery
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and defuse crisis
  • Reliable transportation with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and sit or stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative
Skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • De-escalation and conflict resolution skills
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
