Residential/Assistant Property Manager - Academy

The Residential/Assistant Property Manager oversees daily operations at a supportive permanent housing facility located within the San Francisco Presidio. The position requires residence on site with a unit provided as part of the compensation package. The Resident Manager maintains a productive and professional relationship with veteran residents that is conducive to respect and service, while ensuring that veteran residents abide by house rules and lease terms. This position involves extensive interaction with both on-site staff and tenants. The Resident Manager reports to the Property Manager. This position will be subject to an online criminal background check.

As the Residential/Assistant Property Manager, this position requires the ability address any major concerns in the absence of the property manager as well as assist the manager in the overall operation of the property, day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures and programs as outlined in the community rules, lease, and Presidio Trust, and SFHA.

  • Establish and maintain a productive and professional relationship with the tenants, resulting in a safe, clean residential site
  • Ensure fair, consistent, and thorough enforcement of all property “House Rules”, policies and procedures
  • Monitor the property, daily, for safety hazards, pests, etc. and generate work orders when needed
  • Schedule repairs as needed or reported by tenants in consultation with supervisor, including pest control
  • Review and respond to incident reports and tenant complaint reports in accordance with established guidelines and issue violation letters after consulting with supervisor and case manager
  • Maintain logs for pest control, parking permits, and maintenance work orders
  • Assist in maintaining tenant’s files
  • Coordinate maintenance/custodial supply needs with maintenance staff. As well as office supplies
  • Receive and input tenant payments
  • Administer SF-Marin food bank for seniors-applications, recertification’s etc.
  • Maintain close contact with community resource agencies and advocacy groups in the area of tenant safety and quality of life
  • Attend and participate in departmental, organizational and community meetings
  • Assist Property Manager with re-certification process as applicable
  • Assist in organization and distribution of food program
  • Provide on-call response for building emergencies after hours
  • Respond to any reasonable accommodation requests in a timely fashion and in compliance with fair housing
  • Generate tenant notices for community events, inspections, etc.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the position within what would be considered reasonable accommodations
  • Oversight of front desk personnel and shift coverage
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • High school diploma
  • One (1) year of direct, residential property management experience or equivalent
  • Translatable military experience and skills may be alternative substituted
  • Understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people
  • Ability to be part of a team and a team leader
  • Commitment to helping homeless and formerly homeless people to regain and maintain independence
  • Knowledge of and experience in general property management policies and procedures
  • Ability to plan, assign, review and coordinate work plans and programs
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and resolve conflict
  • Understanding and experience working with issues of homelessness and recovery issues
  • Abiltiy to sit and stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Cultural Humility Initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office

Working Hours
