Description

The Program Monitor is the gatekeeper to the residences and enforces safety and security policies and procedures in service of tenants. They monitor daily building activities, provide 24-hour security, and respond to building and tenant emergencies. As the first point of contact for visitors to our properties, Program Monitors are required to exhibit professional, courteous and respectful conduct to tenants and building guests, enforcing property rules while creating a welcoming environment. The position is supervised by the Resident Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily common area activities of building residents and guests
  • Maintain complete and accurate building logs: visitor log, overnight log, daily log
  • Maintain complete and accurate shift reports of activities, repairs, tenant requests, deliveries incidents, and services
  • Maintain building security, by making rounds of entryways and public areas indoors and outside
  • Screen all visitors to the building
  • Respond to building emergencies in compliance with the Property Management policy
  • Engage in courteous and respectful communications with tenants and guests
  • Assist tenants with the completion of work orders, incident reports and complaints
  • Assist the Building Manager with administrative tasks as directed
  • Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry and lobby
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required by the agency and the Housing Department
  • Follow all rules and procedures outlined in the Swords Personnel Policy Manual
Experience
  • Translatable military experience and skills considered
Qualifications
  • Understanding of and experience working with issues of homelessness and recovery
  • Understanding of and ability to communicate with diverse types of people
  • Commitment to helping people who have histories of homelessness to regain and maintain their independence
  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs, with the ability to perform all functions of the position within what would be deemed reasonable
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative

  • Present a relaxed, courteous and professional communication style, even under pressure
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm and responsible during emergencies
  • Ability to work independently and be a part of a team
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Applicants are required to have basic computer word processing skills
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and defuse tension using de-escalation and conflict resolutions skills
