Maintenance Technician - Stanford
Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ongoing maintenance and repairs to residential units as well as to offices and public areas in the building. This position also includes preventive maintenance projects. The Maintenance Technician may be asked to perform repairs at other properties owned and/or managed by Swords to Plowshares.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety procedures as directed by the Residential Property Manager
  • Perform maintenance duties for STP properties including:
    • Plumbing:
      • Un-clog sinks, toilets, showers and tubs
      • Repair and replace toilets and faucets
    • Electrical:
      • Repair and replace broken switches and plugs
      • Replace smoke detectors
    • Carpentry:
      • Repair and replace damaged wood trim
      • Ensure doors and windows are operable (including sash cords)
      • Repair or replace door and window hardware
    • Glazing: replace broken door and window glass
    • Painting: exterior and interior
    • Drywall repair
    • Carpet cleaning/shampooing
    • Unit turn-around overflow
  • Process maintenance work orders through completion
  • Assess material/supply needs, submit purchase requests or purchase supplies as needed
  • Assist janitorial staff in large scope projects and fill in for short term absences
  • Other tasks as assigned such as moving furniture, water clean-up, grounds maintenance
  • Complete daily work reports
  • Attend required Property Management and All-Staff meetings and trainings
  • Ability to perform all essential functions as described within what would be considered reasonable accommodation
Experience
  • Five years (5) experience with maintenance in a multi-unit property management setting
  • Translatable military experience and skills may be alternatively substituted
  • Consideration will be given to the applicant’s experience with preventive maintenance experience working in the affordable housing environment
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Commitment to working on issues related to homelessness
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift 100lbs
  • Employee must be able to perform all functions of the position within what would be deemed a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Cultural Humility Initiative
