Job Developer - Bay Area
Description

The Job Developer provides employment resource and placement services to the veterans enrolled in the Employment & Training program, develops and implements employment plans, and performs community outreach throughout the Bay Area. The Job Developer provides assessments, case management, information and referral, and job counseling to assist veterans reintegrating into the civilian workforce. Job Developers work with Employment Specialists to assist in barrier removals and strategies for job placement and/or occupational training programs in accordance with contract goals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with employers, education institutes, and community-based organizations to seek new career opportunities for veterans and influence retention and success of veterans
  • Assess and evaluate job applicants to match client skills, aptitude and abilities to prospective employment openings and make referrals to secure job placement
  • Pre-screen veterans for work ready status in the areas of initial screenings, career assessments, educational testing and/or other appropriate assessments and place qualified participants for employment opportunities with employers
  • Assist veterans with pre-employment activities: One-stop Computer Access Point, workshops, career fairs, and networking events
  • Assist with outreach activities to recruit potential employers and veterans, including job fairs and meetings as delegated by Workforce Development Manager
  • Work with Employment Specialists to implement strategies to assess the abilities and barriers to employment of veterans to move them to self-sufficiency
  • Work with internal staff to ensure successful job recruitment, selection and referral of participants
  • Prepare and submit reports, prepare paperwork for submission and complete data entry as required
  • Maintain current client files with accurate case notes and supporting documentation
  • Perform any other employment related task as identified and delegated by Program Manager
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science (social work, sociology, psychology) or English
  • Equivalent combination of college course work and experience
Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience providing job counseling and job development to disadvantaged, hard-to-serve populations, particularly the employment readjustment of military veterans
Skills
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and strong presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in public relations, personnel recruitment, or related field
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Problem solving skills
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of online job search engine resources
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Punctual with deadlines, efficient administrative duties
  • Ability to interact well with people from diverse economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to interact and engage with community partners in a professional manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively and comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Diversity Equity Initiative
