Michael Blecker Talks Veterans on “Today’s World”

Our executive director, Michael Blecker, joins Brent Carey on “Today’s World” on KOIT to discuss veterans issues.  He talks about efforts in the Bay Area to help veterans through a comprehensive approach to overcoming issues of poverty, housing, employment, and health.

The community-based model used by Swords to Plowshares has been developed over the last 40 years to improve outcomes for veterans.

  • Community education is now a component that complements peer counseling and direct services.
  • The Pro Bono Program has developed partnerships with over 27 law firms to provide representation for benefits and compensation claims.
  • Employment services place veterans—and veterans bring leadership and teamwork to the job.
