Women Veterans Workshop: Nov. 15

Nov 15, 2014 10:00 am
Golden Gate University 536 Mission St., Room 5215

The Women Veterans Professional NetWork (WVPN) is a series of retreats developed by Swords to Plowshares to facilitate a healthy military-civilian transition for women veterans by offering full-day workforce development workshops, mentorship, and wrap-around care to address mental and physical health needs.

The speakers and sessions we have assembled aim to provide resources, planning tools and next steps for career paths, whether you are seeking employment, career advancement or entrepreneurship.

The WVPN is not intended to be a one day event, rather the first step in connecting women veterans with their peers and building a true network which will provide support and resources as your education, job and career plans evolve over time.

When: Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST

Where: Golden Gate University
536 Mission Street, Room 5215
San Francisco, CA

The workshops are designed to engage women with career advancement opportunities and create connections among women veteran professionals. Participants will leave the workshop with an Individual Career Plan and contact information for resources, as well as access to peer mentors.

This opportunity is for women veterans looking to enhance their career outlook and engage with other women veterans.

Workshop activities will include:

  • Profiles of the Veteran Professional
  • Getting the Most of Your Veteran Status
  • Career assessments and mentoring in tailoring military skills to the civilian job, resume building and interview skills, and career advancement opportunities
  • Utilizing social media in your professional life
  • Network luncheon and opportunities during the workshop to create a professional network of women veterans

Note: $75 stipends to cover transportation, childcare, and participation costs will be given to participants at the end of the workshop.
DD214, military ID, or VA card must be presented as verification.
