At Swords to Plowshares we understand the importance of service and giving back to others. In honor of service to others we’re rolling out our website’s redesigned Volunteer Page. Our goal is to make it easier for volunteers to connect with Swords to Plowshares and help out on projects they care about.
Now you can choose from a list of open volunteer opportunities or suggest a new project you’d like to work on. Giving back to veterans has never been easier.
Join Swords to Plowshares in serving those who’ve served, and become a volunteer today!
Veterans Day Gala Preparation:
Our annual gala on November 7, 2013 takes a lot of planning and we could use your help! Our Resource Development & Communications office is located on Sutter Street in San Francisco. We need help with follow-up phone calls, donor letters, researching local businesses to solicit silent auction gifts and general administrative support.
When: Anytime Monday to Friday between 9 am – 5 pm beginning 10/10.
Veterans Day Parade:
This year San Francisco hosts its 94th Annual Veterans Day Parade. Swords to Plowshares is hoping to make this year’s parade one to remember. We need three volunteers to help us make signs and posters to be used on the day of the parade.
When: the week of October 21- 25, between 9 am – 5 pm.
Homeless Veteran Holiday Luncheon and Backpack Giveaway:
Homeless Veteran Holiday Luncheon and Backpack Giveaway: We need volunteers to stuff backpacks filled with the essentials homeless veterans need to help stay warm during the cold winter months and a group to serve the holiday luncheon meal.
Date TBD between 12/9 and 12/13. Location in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco.
Note: Due to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality constraints, we do not have volunteer work available in counseling or other direct services for our clients.
