9/11: Facts

After the attacks in New York and Washington, DC on September 11, 2001, two million Americans deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, hundreds of thousands of veterans and troops are suffering from crippling wounds of war –both physical injuries and psychological injuries such as like Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury. Overwhelming numbers of the men and women who answered the call of duty after September 11th yet are still not receiving the care and support they need after their service.

Donate to Veterans TodayWhen you donate to Swords to Plowshares, your dollar will go a long way toward bringing our troops all the way home.

As we approach our tenth year at war, the American public must be reminded that we have a long road ahead of us to ensure the men and women who have bravely served our country are taken care of when they return home.

Veterans continue to lead the nation in homelessness, joblessness, mental illness, substance dependence and suicide. Many of our country’s veterans never receive the benefits they have earned or the services they need to successfully transition home. Our troops deserve better.
That is why the federal government, veterans and their families rely on Swords to Plowshares to deliver local, comprehensive services they do not have the capacity or expertise to provide.
