Veterans will earn Building Performance Institute (BPI) Analyst certification.

 

Principles of Building Science, Energy, and Construction and Building Performance, Assessment, and Sales

September 6 – October 29 , 2011
Tu, W, Th, 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Sa, 8:30am to 4:30pm
Skyline College, San Bruno, CA.

Approximately 300,000 jobs will be needed in the Building Performance Industry by 2020.
59% of U.S. homes need upgrades by 2020 to meet Assembly Bill 32 standards.

The training begins with an overview of residential building science, performance standards, best practices, principles in residential construction, mechanical systems, appliances, water heating, lighting, green building, and sustainable applications for the built environment. Introduction to the Energy Upgrade California utility rebate program and financing options.

Veterans will be prepared to sell and conduct home energy assessments, including diagnostic testing of and creating reports on performance of multiple building systems. Provides application of industry standards and practices. Includes multiple days of field training applying diagnostic equipment and development of retrofit workscope solutions. Includes basics of sales and interaction with homeowners and contractors, with best practices for messaging and marketing.

Veterans will then test for the BPI Analysist Certification.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • DD-214, Valid Drivers License, Social Security Card
  • High School Diploma, GED, or 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Can Pass a Math and Reading assessment test.
